What are Assembly Bill 165 and Senate Bill 302?

Assembly Bill 165 (AB 165), also known as the Nevada Educational Choice Scholarship Program, helps students get money from private donors or businesses to attend private schools. It’s important to note that this bill no longer requires students in the state of Nevada to attend public schools to qualify for this money.

Senate Bill 302 (SB 302), known by many as Nevada’s Education Savings Account Program, aims to offer assistance to parents looking to send their children to a private school or academy. Parents can apply for an Education Savings Account, which can be used to send children to participating private and online schools.

How do these bills help my children?

Simply put, these bills will help send your children to a first-rate Christian academy at a significantly discounted, or even free rate. Both of these bills offer assistance to parents hoping to send their children to a private academy, offering funds from two separate entities. While AB 165 provides money to students from non-profits or Scholarship Granting Organizations, SB 302 offers funds from the state of Nevada by taking a percentage of the average price per pupil.

The benefits of a quality Christian education

With Nevada public schools consistently ranking among worst in the nation, a quality education at a private Christian academy can set your children up for a bright and successful future. Instilling the values of hard work, determination and faith, an education from a Christian private academy provides more than academic excellence; it provides children with a strong  sense of community. The lessons your children will learn at a Christian school will not only impact and shape their lives, but also the people around them.

When it comes to education, your children deserve nothing but the best. Start their journey towards adulthood on the best possible path. By securing funds through the use of AB 165 and SB 302, you can send your children to one of the top Christian academies in the state for next to nothing.

Singing the Praises of a Christian Education

As parents, we want the best for our children, especially when it comes to their education. That’s why it’s so important to find the right school for your child. A Christian education can help build a strong foundation that will last a lifetime. Here are just a few of the advantages of a Christian education.

Great Academics

As it turns out, it’s not just a stereotype that private schools are better equipped to prepare students for higher education; The National Center for Education Statistics released a report suggesting that students who graduate from private schools are more likely than their public school counterparts to complete an advanced degree by their mid-20s.

Values

Less red tape isn’t the only benefit of choosing a private, Christian education for your children (though it’s a great perk!). Private schools are allowed to instill certain values that are often banned or left out of public school curriculum. Many parents choose private schools because they know that their children will be fully allowed and encouraged to exercise their right to practice their religion freely in a supportive environment. Teachers in private, Christian institutions are not just tolerant of Christian values; they practice the teachings of Jesus Christ in their everyday lives and love sharing the teachings of scripture with their students.

Community

You can feel great about the friends your child makes at school and what they’re learning both in and out of the classroom, since it’s quite likely that their friends are being raised with similar values at home (and in school). Instead of dreading PTA meetings and other school functions, many parents at private, Christian schools actually look forward to them since they know that each parent, teacher, and administrator at their child’s school cares about the same things that they do: raising happy and successful children by using the winning combination of great academics and Christian principles.

Smaller Class Sizes

Many parents of children in public schools might feel like their child is treated as a number, and that their teachers and school administrators don’t make an effort to get to know them as the unique individuals that they are. Private schools often have smaller student/teacher ratios, and teachers often choose to teach at private schools because they truly care about their students and believe wholeheartedly that instilling Christian values is vital to a child’s development. More individualized attention means that fewer things go unnoticed.

Lasting Relationships

Unlike most public school systems, private schools provide the unique opportunity to stay and grow within the same academic community from preschool, all the way up to middle school. That means your child will build lasting relationships with both their teachers and peers that they will cherish well beyond graduation.

At Cornerstone Christian Academy & Preschool, we understand the importance of balancing academic strength with a Christian curriculum. To learn more about Christian education, or to schedule a tour of our school, contact us at 702-939-5050.
